What is an employee audit?

An employee audit, involving a comprehensive and analytical survey of personnel affairs in the company, is a crucial tool deployed by Employers to verify human resource practices in the enterprise. An employee audit is a form of a consulting service which enables the Employer to obtain a comprehensive insight into personnel affairs from a new and objective angle:
  • with regard to the "human" aspect – to facilitate the selection of appropriate staff members, to verify the employees' skills, efficiency and motivation
  • as well as in a more "formal" respect – to ensure that the human resource policies observed in the company are consistent with the law and statutory regulations.

To whom is an employee audit addressed?

An employee audit is addressed to all employers and prospective employers, regardless of the size, location or the industry in which the company operates.

By deploying a flexible auditing methodology, the process can be adapted to meet specific needs. An employee audit is a valuable tool in the following processes:
  • company reorganisation
  • due diligence
  • allocation or distribution of new work duties
  • analysis of personnel affairs
  • developing job profiles
  • assessing employee competencies required for the given position
  • testing the employees' attitudes to work
  • surveying employee motivation.

How is an employee audit carried out?

As part of an employee audit carried out by meetingpoint, the employer undergoes a detailed external verification for the purpose of analysing the company's human resource policies in various aspects, such as:
  • analysis of personnel selection criteria adopted by the employer
  • analysis of the company's organisational structure
  • comparison of the existing job profiles with the actual work load
  • analysis of the formal grounds for employment – employment contracts, assignment contracts, etc.
  • verification of the employer's observance of duties imposed under the Labour Code as well as other regulations, including the company work regulations.

During an employee audit, the Employer is requested to fill in questionnaires designed by meetingpoint to enable our consultants to interview/meet with the selected employees and is asked to provide access to personal records to facilitate the audit procedure. During the audit, both meetingpoint and its external consultants are guided by the key principle of observing the confidential nature of any information released by the Employer.

What is the end product of an employee audit?

The end product of an employee audit is an extensive report generated by meetingpoint which contains a description of the performed audit, the analysed documents and practices. The report also points out any shortcomings and presents the recommended modifications and improvements to the existing solutions. On the basis of the report, the employer is able to implement the recommended actions at his own discretion or with the assistance of meetingpoint.

What is the duration and the cost of an employee audit?

An employee audit usually lasts from 3 to 6 weeks, subject to the location and size of the audited company and the range of investigated areas. Effective communication between the Employer and the consultants, the quality and completeness of the released documents are vital for the success of the audit process. Auditing charges vary subject to the detailed scope of the project which is determined individually to match the Client's specific needs.

Why is an employee audit a valuable investment?

By commissioning meetingpoint to analyse the company's personnel affairs, the Employer will:
  • obtain an independent, reliable and objective view on the company's human resource policies
  • be able to confront his views and the company's human resource practices with the best market benchmarks
  • receive a tool for adjusting any shortcomings, identify risk areas and avoid possible fines or employee claims.
